The Department of Public Works will be performing annual fire hydrant flushing throughout the City of Winooski over the next three to four weeks. This work is projected from 9/26/2017 through 10/20/2017, with scheduled maintenance on 180 hydrants. Annual hydrant maintenance enhances water quality, identifies malfunctions and inadequate volumes/pressures, and helps determine areas of improvement in the water distribution system. Residents may experience temporary water discoloration due to this process. If this happens in your home or business, please run a cold water tap for 15-30 minutes or until the water runs clear. If it does not clear up in this amount of time, please notify Winooski Public Works by calling 802-655-6410.
