New Program: Public Speaking with Peter Burns

The Department of Recreation and Parks has partnered with Peter Burns, a professional storyteller and presenter with 35+ years of experience to offer a comprehensive public speaking course.

As a scholar for the Vermont Humanities Council, Peter has taught Public Speaking and Storytelling in schools and for many organizations such as the AmeriCorps VISTA program. His work has been featured on National Public Radio!

Many people fear getting up in front of a group and making a presentation, yet being able to do so is essential. Whether you are giving a professional presentation, talking to a school board or hosting an event, effective public speaking skills are important. In this class, you will learn simple and effective methods for talking to a group. We will also have a chance to practice and perfect our techniques. This class is designed to be fun and interactive.

This course is for adults (18+) and will be split up into 5 sessions at the O’Brien Community Center on 32 Malletts Bay Ave. in Winooski.
