Incident Report: Winooski Fire Department

At approximately 9:17 pm on November 7th, 2017, crews from the Winooski Fire Department and Colchester Center Volunteer Fire Company responded to the report of a fire at 26 West Spring Street. Upon arrival, Battalion Chief John Spittle noted that light smoke was visible on the easterly side of the building (B side) on the 2nd-floor entryway porch. Firefighters were able to conduct a prompt offensive on the affected area and successfully extinguished the fire, preventing additional damage to the structure.

The cause of the fire is being classified as “undetermined” and not considered suspicious. The likely cause is that of an improperly disposed of smoking material(s).

We were assisted by Colchester Center Volunteer Fire Fighters’ Association Inc. CCVFC, Saint Michael’s College Fire and Rescue, and the Winooski Police Department.
