Green Up Day 2018

The City of Winooski is proud to celebrate 48 years of Green Up Vermont!

Drop by the O’Brien Community Center (32 Malletts Bay Ave.) from 9 am to 12 pm to pick up your bags, gloves, and safety information. City staff will help you find an area of need if you don’t already have one picked out. Be sure to grab a coffee to go provided by the Vermont Coffee Company.

We’ve provided a map of Green Up Bag drop off locations, including a Myers Container Corp. trash receptacle in the O’Brien Community Center parking lot. Please leave your bags (sidewalks/City-owned property only) at any of these locations!

NOTE: Please do not dispose of unwanted furniture or household items on Green Up Day. Please donate these items to a local thrift store or dispose of properly at your local trash disposal facility. Click here to view CSWD’s A – Z disposal guide.

Participants may also join the Winooski Tree Advisory Committee for a special tree planting! The Committee will be planting a Black Gum Tree (Nyssa sylvatica) at the West Allen Street Park in recognition of Arbor Day. All are welcome.

9:30 am: Tree Advisory Committee members and volunteers will start digging the hole for the tree.

10:15 am: Participants will have the opportunity to write and decorate cards and notes of well-wishes and support.

10:30 am: Mayor Seth Leonard will read the Arbor Day Proclamation, and the tree will be planted and mulched. Funding for the tree is provided by the Vermont Urban and Community Forestry program.
