This will be a true mixed-income development, containing a total of 39 rentals – allocating an estimated 12 market rate units and 27 affordable housing units. In addition, through a partnership with COTS, 4 of the affordable units will provide service-enriched housing for the homeless and at-risk of homelessness. The apartments will provide a number of amenities, including underground parking, a fitness center, outdoor community space including patio and deck, available storage lockers, laundry, central elevator, and on-site management office and a support services office.
The project is located in Winooski’s Gateway District, a designated Neighborhood Development Area. The City of Winooski has identified this location as a key area for precisely the type of development as proposed, serving a vital need in the City of Winooski for affordable family housing and is aligned with the City’s Strategic Vision Statement.
Demolition of the building located at 268 East Allen St. has begun, while the implementation of a traffic control plan will begin Thursday night (August 30th, 2018) and may be in effect for up to one year. The plan includes a lane shift on East Allen between Dion and Hood Street where one westbound lane will be eliminated while two eastbound lanes will be maintained during construction. The south sidewalk will be closed during this time, pedestrians traveling along East Allen should use the crossings at Dion Street and Manseau Street.
