Vermont Air National Guard Night Flying Operations

The 134th Fighter Squadron of the Vermont Air National Guard will continue night flying operations from Tuesday, Jan. 9th through Friday, Jan. 19, 2018. Area residents will see and hear F-16C aircraft taking off and landing until about 10:30 p.m. during this time.

As part of their overall readiness training, 158th Fighter Wing pilots and maintenance personnel are required to conduct night operations.

“The Green Mountain Boys remain ready to fly 24/7, and with that we must train within the hours of darkness,” said Lt. Col. Michael Blair, 158th Director of Operations, “we appreciate the support of the community in understanding the critical role training and readiness play in our national defense capabilities.”

This is routine training for Vermont Air National Guard personnel, and to minimize impact of operations, night flying is scheduled when the hours of darkness are at their earliest seasonally.
